"Of course I would love to cooperate with Jackie Chan," Firth said, revealing that he is a big admirer of Chan and saying that Chan once sent an autographed photo to his son.
Colin Firth's most notable and acclaimed role to date has been his 2010 portrayal of King George VI in "The King's Speech," a performance that gained him an Oscar and a number of other film awards. Firth stars as Harry Hart, aka Galahad, in "Kingsman: The Secret Service," a spy action comedy film by "Kick-Ass" director Matthew Vaughn.
The "Kingsman" movie is based on the comic book "The Secret Service," created by Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar. The film follows the story of the recruitment and training of a potential secret agent, Gary "Eggsy" Unwin, into a secret and elegant spy organization named "Kingsman." Eggsy joins a mission to tackle a global threat posed by Richmond Valentine, a wealthy eco-terrorist. "Kingsman" stars Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Strong, Taron Egerton and Michael Caine. Colin Firth was the only major star from the film to appear at the Beijing promotional event yesterday since the China premiere has come after the film's release in the United Kingdom in January and in the United States in February.
Firth applauded Vaughan's directing style, which he said made for a funny, unique and brand new spy movie, which also pays tribute to the James Bond movies.
"Kingsman: The Secret Service" will debut nationwide in China on March 27, 2015, but several minutes of the film have been deleted after censors found them to be too violent. The film received positive reviews and has grossed over US$295 million worldwide thus far.
