LeVision Pictures, an affiliate of Chinese streaming company LeTV, announced on Tuesday that it will work with top director Tsui Hark on innovative filmmaking.

The Silicon Valley based-media tech lab will help incorporate more pervasive media into China's movies, according to LeVision chief executive Zhang Zhao.

Tsui Hark, whose "The Taking of Tiger Mountain" earned more than 881 million yuan (142 million U.S. dollars), said more should be done in China to advance film making, especially considering its large population, adding it was likely he would use smartphones to shoot movies in the future.

LeVision has already hired Zhang Yimou, another renowned Chinese director who was behind the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the upcoming film "Great Wall."

Tsui and Zhang's participation is expected to result in more movie content for LeTV, which also unveiled three smartphones on Tuesday.
