China-Australia International Film Festival

The 2nd China-Australia International Film Festival will be held from Oct. 16 to 23 in Brisbane, organizers announced during the Beijing International Film Festival. Chinese and Australian live-action films, animated films, documentaries, short films and co-production films screened between Nov. 1, 2014 and Sept. 30, 2015 can enter the competition for the Golden Wattle Awards” in 12 categories, including Best Picture and Best Director.

Organizer Liu Xiuhua, vice president of the film festival, told China.org.cn that the festival offers a platform for the presentation and promotion of Chinese films and culture in Australia. The festival -- which is supported by the Chinese and Australian governments and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization -- will help Chinese films be screened more frequently in Australia, encourage the initiation of more Sino-Australian film co-production projects and introduce Australian films to China.
