'Loving Xinjiang Scholarships' granted to Chinese students

Chinese embassy in Egypt held a ceremony Friday to offer scholarships of 2013-2014 academic year to some excellent students from Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and 179 students in total were awarded.

Huo Wenjie, educational counselor of Chinese embassy, introduced that Excellent Private Overseas Student Scholarship was granted to one student, Loving Xinjiang Scholarships with different ranks to 172 students, and Excellent Student Leaders Scholarships to 6 students.

Ayteken Gasol, a female Uygur student from Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang, has obtained special award of Loving Xinjiang Scholarships for 3 consecutive years.

"Scholarships have shown Xinjiang regional government's caring and encouragement to us, and we should continue to work hard so as to make even more achievements", she said in her speech.

Song Aiguo, Chinese Ambassador to Egypt, said that there were about 3,000 Chinese students in Egypt and those from Xinjiang took a large proportion.

He also hoped these students study hard and serve their motherland and hometown with heart and soul after graduation.

Excellent Private Overseas Student Scholarship and Loving Xinjiang Scholarship were created in 2011 and 2006 respectively.

The government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region allocates this special fund from its annual budget and entrusts Chinese embassy in Egypt to manage, evaluate and hand out on the purpose of awarding excellent Xinjiang students in Egypt.
