Jaycee Chan, the son of kung fu mega-star Jackie Chan, has talked about his prison life in Beijing for the first time during an interview with Taiwan media.

The junior Chan was arrested in Beijing in last August for a drug case, then found guilty and sentenced to prison. On the one year anniversary of his arrest, Chan recalled what he had experienced in prison, 172 days after his release.

He said he didn't enjoy any privileges during the tough time since his father was Jackie Chan. He ate the same prison food as the others and slept in the wooden cell, and he would go through the X-ray detector and change into prison clothes, fully naked. The most difficult thing was, he said, the light was kept on for 24 hours due to security reasons, so he "didn't see any darkness" for 184 days.

Chan said he would be let out in a small space for exercise, and once, he saw an old prison mate going into a corner, squatting and shaking off his dandruff, and then starting to pick the dead skin off his feet. He said the scenario looked like a ghost story.

Jaycee Chan also said he started to raise weird pets such as spiders in the toilet, and he killed a mosquito and judged the wind direction by the direction of the mosquito's feet. He said he would become mad at that time though he finds everything amusing now.

He said he never broke down and cried out loud.

Jaycee Chan said he has been staying in Taipei for a half a year after his release from prison with his mother by his side. He said he wrote songs and practiced singing at home as well as playing video games. He also met friends, including Taiwan actor Kai Ko, who was arrested along with Chan in Beijing for drug charges.

Chan revealed that his famous father has been to see him three times, "Though he had some other businesses to deal with, he didn't just come for me," Chan said, "This was already very much for me."

In the past, Jaycee only saw his father once a year and complained about his father's negligence and pressure on him. When asked if his father criticized him after the release, Jaycee said, "no, dad said 'it’s good to see you back', and he gave me a big hug."
