Jack Ma surprisingly showed up at the event to meet and talk with Cruise who is now in China to promote his latest action spy film. One of the major investors of the film "Mission: Impossible 5" was Alibaba Pictures Group, a film branch under the Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group headed by Ma, the founder and executive chairman.

Ma complimented Cruise as being "so handsome and a great actor," and said his favorite of Cruise's films is still "Mission: Impossible," though the first Cruise film he ever saw in his young age was "Top Gun."

"How can a man be that handsome? And how can a handsome man be that great? You know, I'm considered the most ugly and unique looking person in China," " Ma joked, "That is why when I'm looking at a handsome man, I'm always jealous. But I'm never jealous of him. He's so great. Congratulations to all those great movies. "

Cruise said he admired Jack Ma's accomplishments and said that any mission impossible in life can be achieved when you have dreams and work hard.

Ma said Cruise's words made him remember his beginnings when his parents never thought he would succeed and everyone around him questioned his desire to develop the Internet commerce industry. "People always told me 'Ma, it is impossible,' I always told them, 'why is it impossible? Why not have a try?'"

Both Ma and Cruise also acknowledged the importance of team work, just like that portrayed in the film.

"Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation," with thrilling scenes like Cruise's death-defying stunt dangling outside an airplane in midflight, is written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie and stars Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Ving Rhames, Sean Harris, and Alec Baldwin.

Director Christopher McQuarrie and actress Rebecca Ferguson also attended the Chinese premiere with Cruise in Shanghai on Sunday and at a meet-and-greet event in Beijing on Monday.

"I worked hard to give the audience the best story and the best performances of the highest quality in every film I’ve ever made since I was 18. I’ve worked very, very hard, and I want to entertain. This is what I'm here to do," said Cruise at the premiere. He said he hoped to make more "Mission: Impossible" movies and wanted to still be an action star when he’s in his 90’s.

In the fifth episode of the Hollywood blockbuster, Cruise’s character Ethan Hunt and his team are taking on their most impossible mission yet, eradicating the Syndicate - an International rogue organization as highly skilled as they are, committed to destroying the IMF.

"Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation" is the most critically applauded film in the famous franchise. It opens in China on Sept. 8, 2015 and is posed to gross high in the country.

The film was released in many markets in July by Paramount Pictures and has since already made roughly US$511 million worldwide.
