Dogs walk red carpet for Snoopy film

The VIP guests at China's premiere for "Snoopy: The Peanuts Movie" on Wednesday night in Beijing are not human movie stars, but cute dogs.
Ten pet puppies and their owners walked the red carpet, attracting hundreds of people to stand by and watch the amusing moment while children were cheering for them. They were recruited via an online activity by 20th Century Fox.
"Snoopy: The Peanuts Movie," directed by Steve Martino, will debut in China on Nov. 6. The advanced screening on Wednesday generated positive buzz for the animated feature.

Martino, known for directing the films "Horton Hears a Who!" and "Ice Age: Continental Drift," said he was a big fan of Charles M. Schulz's comic strip "Peanuts" in his youth. Hence, he closely worked with the Schulz family to make Snoopy and its pals in the film to inherit some of the 2D features of Schulz's original drawing style in this 3D flicks, which is outstanding and faithful to the original classic.

This year marked the 65th anniversary of the original comic strip launch. The strip is one of the most popular and influential in history, with 17,897 strips published in all. At its peak, Peanuts ran in over 2,600 newspapers, with a readership of 355 million in 75 countries, and was translated into 21 languages. This will also be the first feature film based on Charlie Brown and Snoopy in over 35 years.
As the world's most famous beagle, Snoopy, has recently earned a star on the "Hollywood Walk of Fame."
