Ink master Qi Baishi is renown for meticulous depiction of small insects while achieving a balance with his carefree strokes of painting plants in the same painting.

His dozen works featuring flowers and insects are displayed at Poly Art Museum in Beijing. On show includes a rarely seen album of 18 leaves kept by collector Huo Zongjie.

Qi's flower-and-insect leave paintings not only showcase his excellent skills and keen observations. Also they tell his serious attitude toward painting and his innocence and love of life. The exhibition runs through Nov 10.
