Actor Daniel Craig said he didn't have an answer to whether he would play the famous Agent 007 again after the new film "Spectre" in Beijing on Tuesday while one producer said she would not let him go.
Producer Barbara Broccoli said in Beijing that Craig's previous comments of "not playing James Bond" are "not true." "I will not let him go. He is the best 007!"
Daniel Craig has been hinting that he’s done with the role of James Bond and even came under fire for comments he previously made when he told an interviewer from Time Out London he'd "rather break this glass and slash my wrists" than play 007 again.
Daniel later explained he had just finished filming "Spectre" when he was interviewed and was "exhausted and hurting physically."
Craig said in Beijing that it was like running a marathon, and when you are 200 meters from the end and someone runs up to ask you if you would like to do another marathon, you would undeniably say "no." "Now I don't have answer to that question."
"Spectre" is the 24th installment of the long-running James Bond film franchise. It was directed by Sam Mendes, his second James Bond film following "Skyfall," and stars Daniel Craig, Léa Seydoux, Christoph Waltz, Ben Whishaw, Monica Bellucci, and Ralph Fiennes. With a budget between US$245–300 million, it is one of the most expensive films ever made.
Léa Seydoux also attended the Beijing press conference. As the new "Bond girl," she said she felt pressure but was honored to be part of the film and soon immersed herself into character without thinking too much about the pressure.
The Guinness World Records also presented the producer and two actors a new record certification at the Beijing event for "Spectre" as the film has the largest stunt explosion, using 68.47 tons of TNT explosions in the film’s Morocco scene, shot on June 29, 2015. Producer Barbara Broccoli said they didn't use computer generated visual effects and shot it for real, that's why the film is exciting and thrilling.
"Spectre" is produced by Eon Productions and distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Columbia Pictures. It grossed more than US$300 million worldwide before it opens in the Chinese market on Friday.
