A London-based choir, made up entirely of National Health Service staff, including nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, midwives, porters, administrators and more - have made the UK number-1 this Christmas with their single, "A Bridge Over You".

The song, a mash-up of Simon and Garfunkel's classic "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and Coldplay's "Fix You" has outlasted Justin Bieber to the number one spot in the UK Charts on Friday.

The NHS Hospital Choir was formed two years ago to take part in the BBC show "Sing While You Work."

The group has stayed together ever since, practicing around their long working hours.

Choir members say they are thrilled at the reception "A Bridge Over You" has received.

All the proceeds from the song are going to charities.
