Janet Jackson has announced the cancellation of a planned European tour, a sudden change in her schedule since she reported a mystery illness in December.

The five-time Grammy winner removed all dates for the European shows from her website. That leg of the tour had been due to kick off on March 30 in Birmingham, England.

No explanation was offered, and her spokesperson did not make any comment on the issue.

But ticket holders posted on social media that they had received e-mail notices from promoters, saying they would be refunded, as no new dates were set to be scheduled.

The apparent cancellation is the latest twist for Jackson's 'Unbreakable' world tour.

The 49-year-old diva confirmed on Christmas Eve that she was putting shows in North America on hold, but later offered new dates, saying she would go ahead with the European tour.

She initially explained that she needed an urgent operation, but didn't reveal details of the surgery.

Janet Jackson disappeared from the spotlight for a few years, but recently made a music comeback with her 11th studio album 'Unbreakable.'
