Inspired by Rudyard Kipling's collective works of the same name, the film portrays the orphan boy named Mowgli, who was raised in the jungle with the help of a pack of wolves, a bear, and a black panther.

And the veteran actor will voice the panther, who serves as Mowgli's most reliable companion and life mentor.

Zhang Hanyu's performance in 2007 war drama 'Assembly' propelled him to fame and placed him among the ranks of first-class Chinese film stars.

Last week, he has been chosen by director John Woo as the leading actor in 'Manhunt,' along with Japanese actor Masaharu Fukuyama.

Also, actor Guo Tao is included in the voice cast, as the bear Baloo that saves Mowgli from the tiger, and endeavors to teach him the Law of the Jungle.

Produced by Walt Disney Pictures, 'The Jungle Book' will open in the US and China on April 15th.
