American music superstar Prince did not leave a will when he died last Thursday. His sister filed documents in court on Tuesday asking for the court to list his six siblings and half-siblings as heirs.
Prince’s sister, Tyka Nelson, revealed in documents filed in a state court in Carver County, Minnesota, that she did not know of the existence of a will and had "no reason to believe that the Decedent executed testamentary documents in any form."

Nelson asked the court to appoint the wealth management firm Bremer Trust to administer his estate. The filing said that the trust's parent company Bremer Bank has provided financial services to Prince for many years. However, the court did not rule immediately.
Nelson listed herself and five other siblings and half-siblings as Prince's heirs. She also said that a search was underway to determine if Prince had any other heirs.
Prince was married and divorced twice. He had a son who died only days after his birth due to a rare genetic disorder. Under Minnesota law, if a person dies without a will and with no surviving parents, children, or grandchildren, the next one in line to share the estate are the surviving siblings, including half-siblings.
The singer, born Prince Rogers Nelson, unexpectedly died on Thursday at the age of 57, resulting in worldwide mourning, including condolences from President Obama. An autopsy was performed to decide the cause of his death and a private memorial service was held for the legendary singer on Saturday, attended by roughly 20 of his closest friends and family.
The value of his music catalog has been estimated at about US$500 million. Music tracking service Nielsen Music said that Prince's catalog of albums sold 654,000 copies in the United States between April 15 and April 24, while his individual songs generated 2.82 million downloads in the same time frame. "The Very Best of Prince," his 2001 greatest hits album, and "Purple Rain," his 1984 masterpiece, registered on this week’s Billboard 200 album charts at the No. 1 and 2 spots, respectively. Additionally, Prince has a vault of unreleased songs.
Tyka Nelson's husband, Prince's brother-in-law, Maurice Phillips, 52, also said that Prince's home and studio known as Paisley Park in a suburb of Minneapolis, will become a museum to honor his legacy and memories.
