"Tsangyang Gyatso was a living Buddha, but before that, he was a real person yearning for an ordinary life. The combination of the characters of the Buddha, of the ordinary people and Tibetan music, was the most difficult part of my work."

Tsangyang Gyatso was the sixth Dalai Lama who lived at the end of the 17th century.

He is recognized as one of Tibet's best poets.

The drama is based on his poems and stories.

The arts festival is to last until this weekend at the National Center for the Performing Art in Beijing.
