3D live action film The Legend of Tarzan has released a new trailer.

The one-and-a-half-minute video shows epic battle scenes between humans and gorillas.

Produced by Warner Bros., this high-budget epic fantasy is helmed by former Harry Potter director David Yates.

True Blood star Alexander Skarsgard plays Tarzan.

Margot Robbie, also appearing in Suicide Squad this year, will deliver a mature and elegant Jane.

Seasoned performer Christoph Waltz and Samuel Jackson will also make appearances, contributing to the all-star cast.

Tarzan is a fictional character that first appeared in a 1912 novel, and which has been adapted on screen many times.

The new film will follow the plot of the classic story and start a new plot line.

Set in the 1880s, the new story tells of Tarzan, who has been back in human society for ten years, involved in a journey to save his friends.

The Legend of Tarzan is due for release this July in China.
