Young up-and-coming director Cheng Er is now coming back with another thriller titled The Wasted Times, or Luo Man Di Ke Xiao Wang Shi ("罗曼蒂克消亡史")in Chinese, which stars veteran Chinese actor Ge You and actress Zhang Ziyi.

The thriller film, set to hit Chinese theaters on December 23 this year, tells a story of a Japanese spy hunting down a former friend for the murder of his family in the 1920s in Shanghai.

Cheng Er, known for his ability to keep audiences guessing, gets more widely known for being both the screenwriter and director for Lethal Hostage, or Bian Jing Feng Yun in Chinese (边境风云), a 2012 Chinese crime thriller film set on the Chinese-Burmese border.

His upcoming new film 'The Wasted Times' also stars famous Japanese actor Asano Tadonobu, Chinese celebrity couple Huo Siyan and Du Jiang, as well as Chinese actress Yuan Quan and Yan Ni.
