Chinese actress Fan Bingbing, who appeared in "X-Men: Days of Future Past," will quit "Meg," a film adaptation of Steve Alten's 1997 shark thriller novel, due to schedule conflicts, according to a microblog post from Fan’s own studio.

Fully occupied by the promotional campaign of her two upcoming movies, "I am not Madame Bovary" and "L.O.R.D-Legend of Ravaging Dynasties," both expected to hit theaters on September 30, the 35-year-old actress could not join the monster movie, which begins shooting next month, the studio explained.

Alten’s massive prehistoric blockbuster, which is set for release on March 2, 2018, will be directed by Jon Turtleaub, best known as director of the "National Treasure" movies.

It is being co-financed by Flagship Entertainment, Warner Bros. and Gravity Pictures, a division of China Media Capital. Gravity Pictures will serve as distributor in China, with Warner Bros. sending "Meg" out to the rest of the world.
