A drama which interprets three Chinese idiom stories including "Lose the Axe and Suspect the Neighbor" will soon be on stage at the China National Theatre for Children in Beijing.

The other two idioms are "drain the pond to catch fish" and "It is never too late to mend".

Script writer for "It is never too late to mend" Yang Wenmo hopes young viewers may understand that mistakes can hardly be avoided as one grows up, so this story would enable them to learn "it's better late than never" to learn from them.

The drama will be on show throughout the week-long National Day holiday which starts on October 1st.

A press conference held by the theatre told the media that the 3-story drama contains approximately 20 characters, portrayed by only a total of 7 actors and actresses.

Along its sideline, a segment of the play "Lose the Axe and Suspect the Neighbor" will also be shown. And a highlight of this segment would be a combination of pop and western music used as the background music.

The theatre believes that drama is an easy-to-understand approach for young children to understand idioms, thus it plans to stage around 200 to 300 idiom stories in the future.

The upcoming event is the third set of 'Box of Idioms' series, with each of the previous two boxes composed of three idioms respectively.
