China's "Happy Spring Festival, Charming Beijing" celebration came to Beverly Hills, Los Angeles on Jan. 21 for the third consecutive year with an impressive cultural variety shows, drawing over 1,800 audience.
The celebration, a key part of the overseas project of China's Ministry of Culture for the world, featured a "Charming Beijing" gala, a photo exhibition and a handicraft display.
The gala celebrated the cultural diversity of Chinese folk customs with Beijing characteristics and international elements, presenting Chinese acrobatics, folk music, opera and dance.
The "Charming Beijing" photo exhibition illustrated the Spring Festival couplets, firecrackers, New Year's Eve dinner, welcoming the God of Wealth and Chinese Zodiac in more than 50 pictures.
In VR (virtual reality) experience offered, the audience wearing VR glasses can see the Summer Palace and Olympic Center in every angle just as personally on the scene.
Additionally, China's intangible cultural heritages including cluster flowers paper cutting and Chinese calligraphy were showcased.
Mayor of Beverly Hills John A. Mirisch and guests from local education, tourism, culture and press sectors attended the opening ceremony. Mirisch said the activity has been a big hit in Southern California, and extended his sincere thanks to China for bringing such a brilliant show from thousands of miles away.
