"I Am Not Madame Bovary" won best film, best actress (for actress Fan Bingbing) and best cinematography.

Feng said the awards are the best birthday present for him, who turned 59 years old on March 18. "Thanks to motion picture arts, I have gained so much from it. Now it's my turn to pay back for the art. I will let go the thought of box office revenue, and won't be a slave to the box office," Feng said in his acceptance speech, indicating he would consider artistry over making money.

Actress Fan Bingbing said the award is great recognition and ecouragement for her efforts, and "my role in 'I Am Not Madame Bovary' is my favorite in my entire career."

Japanese actor Asano Tadanobu won the Best Actor Award for his performance in "Harmonium."

Park Chan-wook's "The Handmaiden" also collected three smaller awards. South Korea's Na Hong-jin was named best director for "The Wailing," while the country's Oscars contender "The Age of Shadows" collected best original music prize.

Legend of Ravaging Dynasties" and starred in another blockbuster - Stephen Chow and Tsui Hark's collaboration "Journey to the West: The Demons Strike Back" in January 2017.

Another Chinese film "Crosscurrent" won the Best Sound Award at the event, while Hong Kong director Tsui Hark received a Lifetime Achievement Award.
