A little boy was reading a poem written by the famous Chinese ancient poet Li Bai in the Red Pavilion in the first floor corner of the Xidan bookstore in Beijing. The 11-year-old boy was taking part in a charity activity entitled "Ai xin du shi ting," which means "love to read poems."

"You read one poem, I donate one book" is the slogan of the "Ai Xin du shi ting," a campaign launched by the Beijing Youth League, Beijing Television (BTV), the Beijing Publishing Group and the Beijing Distribution Group.

A red pavilion, with a red heart logo, has been installed in a number of public places, like bookstores, railway stations, schools and commercial centers.

It contains recording equipment with a screen listing poets from which participants can choose. Once someone has read a poem and sent it to their various friends, the campaign organizers will donate books to children in rural areas.

More than 20 celebrities including artists, superstars, writers and media presenters have also joined in urging people to come and read poems and help promote good reading habits across the country.

In 2015, the Beijing Publishing Group joined hands with BTV to launch the "donate a book to rural areas" campaign. So far, it has donated nearly 100,000 books to more than 200 primary schools in rural areas across 21 provinces.
