The multiplayer online battle arena game carries many Chinese historical characters and cultural elements of China, including real historical figures like the Taoist philosopher Zhuang Zhou, the Mohist philosopher Mozi, the Famous Chinese poet of the Tang Dynasty Li Bai and the only Chinese empress Wu Zetian, as well as some characters from Chinese literature classics including "The Romance of Three Kingdoms" and "Journey to the West."

Besides, there are also some costumes and scenes with Chinese cultural elements like the Great Wall, the Palace Museum, and murals in Dunhuang Grottoes, and even many foreign characters like Athena from Greek mythology and the Venetian traveler Marco Polo.

The cultural embodiments help motivate players to get to know more about historical figures whom they do not know well and the culture behind them, Hou said.

The game itself delivers the history and culture in an innovative manner, but some unhistorical figure setting in the game also invited some critics. In regard to the controversy, Hou said the game would pay more attention to character setting in the future, and play an active role in promoting Chinese culture among the players and the society.

Besides the classes and the poetry reading activities, the game team also organized many other online and offline culture promotion activities. It has also engaged in the Great Wall Protection Program, and cooperates with the Dunhuang Academy China under which the game is adding more cultural elements of Dunhuang, a major Chinese city on the ancient Silk Road in its new design of costumes and scenes, hoping to infuse more vitality to the game and the splendid culture.
