Editor's note: Two symphonies celebrating the centenary of the founding of the CPC by famous Chinese music troupes, and two dramas depicting the historical changes in China and a love story. Here are four events you won't want to miss this week.

1, Symphony — "Liberation: 1949"

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the CPC's founding, the Nanjing Chinese Orchestra will perform the symphony "Liberation: 1949", with famous Chinese musician Zhao Jiping serving as the artistic director. The work will focus on presenting the heroic achievements of the people and the source of the revolutionary victory during that period.

Venue: National Centre for the Performing Arts, Beijing

2, Drama — "White Deer Plain"

The drama "White Deer Plain" is adapted from the novel of the same name by renowned Chinese writer Chen Zhongshi. The work tells the story of disputes and resentments among three generations of two families, presenting more than half a century of historical changes from the end of the Qing Dynasty to the 1970s. The Shaanxi version of "White Deer Plain" allows viewers to experience rural life in the Chinese countryside.

Venue: Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center

Dates: June 23-26

3, Drama — "Rhinoceros in Love"

Written by Liao Yimei, a famous Chinese playwright, "Rhinoceros in Love" tells the story of the dangerous and obsessive love of a young man called Ma Lu, who works as a rhinoceros keeper in a city zoo. Directed by Meng Jinghui, it has been performed for 21 years and is still widely popular.

Venue: Shanghai People's Theatre, Huangpu District

Dates: June 23-Aug. 22

4, China Film Symphony Orchestra — "Glorious Times and Music of the New Era"

China Film Symphony Orchestra is one of the oldest and best national orchestras in China. The performance will present some of the orchestra's highlights in celebration of the CPC's centenary.

Venue: National Library Arts Center, Beijing
