Insurer puts quake claims so far at US$19m

China Life Insurance (Group) Co., the nation's largest life insurer, told Xinhua on Thursday that it has received 150 claims, including 26 death claims and 97 casualty claims, from southwestern quake-stricken areas.

It estimated the combined compensation payments at 134 million yuan (19.14 million U.S. dollars) as of 4 p.m. on Wednesday, covering several affected localities including Sichuan, Shaanxi, Yunnan, Gansu and Chongqing.

The insurer said it has already settled 26 claims.
