Lei Jun joined Kingsoft Holdings in 1992 and was appointed as the company's CEO in 1998. During his term of service, Kingsoft's software businesses expanded quickly. Lei also contributed to the transition of Kingsoft. He stepped down from his position as CEO in 2008. But Kingsoft later announced that the company's chairman and CEO Pak Kwan Kau planned resign, and Kau recommended Lei as the new chairman.
