In 2006, Doctor Irina Ermakova, a scientist from the Institute of Higher Nervous Activity and Neurophysiology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, found that more than half of mice pups whose mothers ate genetically modified soybeans died during the first three weeks after birth. The death rate was five times higher than those pups whose mothers didn’t eat genetically modified soybeans. On April 16, 2010, Russian scientists proved that hamsters that ate genetically modified soybeans for three generations eventually died out. In similar studies over the past 20 years, genetically modified foods were also shown to cause allergic reactions, infertility and the production of toxins in various animals.
