He Guoqiang on Thursday called on members of the Communist Party of China (CPC) to unswervingly combat corruption, promote integrity and stay vigilant against degeneration.

He made the remarks while joining a panel discussion with Party delegates about Hu Jintao's report delivered at the 18th CPC National Congress Thursday morning.

He said the Party will press ahead with institutional building to punish corruption with an iron hand.

Efforts must be made to crack down on corruption that directly affects the people, he said.

"Combating corruption and promoting political integrity are a significant commitment of the Party and a guarantee to adhere to and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics," he said.

He urged CPC members to creatively facilitate Party building, enhance the Party spirit and raise its overall quality.

Calling the political report a manifestation of the Party's resolve and confidence to lead all Chinese along the socialist path, He said the report reveals both the will of the Party and the wishes of the people.

The essence of the report is to hold high the banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics, constantly optimize the socialist system and theories and build a moderately prosperous society.

The report is a political guideline, by which the Chinese people will score new victories under the new historic conditions, He said.
