Delegates at the 18th CPC National Congress have continued their group discussions on Hu Jintao's political report. They have stressed that opening up policies are vital in building a moderately prosperous society.

Delegates also agreed that remarkable achievements have been made in every aspect of society in the past ten years. They highlighted that the reduction of agricultural taxes has helped raise the incomes of farmers, who also benefited from a new medical insurance plan designed for rural areas.

Some have pointed out that the Report has also set the direction for environmental protection, a key issue in maintaining harmonious and sustainable development. The Report also sets to improve the well-being of all Chinese as one of its key strategies. But some delegates have noted that there is still a gap between policies and practice and that all should be devoted to the narrowing the difference.
