Sun Tze's The Art of War has guided military strategists over the centuries. Now Chinese children are revealing their tactics in the art of dealing with strict mothers.

In Moves No.3 and 4, the girls advise that playing for sympathy by pretending to burst into tears and burying your head on Mom's shoulder is sure to stop a scolding. Both tactics can be frequently used and are very useful, the 10-year-olds explain.

With "Tiger Moms" making the headlines, two 10-year-old "cubs" decided to advise their peers on how to get the better of pushy parents.

The girls from Beijing have published online Combat With Mom, an exercise book detailing more than 20 strategies, illustrated by line drawings.

The post on weibo.com has become an Internet sensation, attracting more than 200,000 reposts or comments.

To stop a scolding, the girls advise playing for sympathy by pretending to cry and burying your head on Mom's shoulder.

And in a strategy that would find favor with pragmatic ancient general Sun Tze, the girls say "running away," or threatening to do so, can be a useful move.

Wisely, they add, "don't run away too far," in prominent red letters.

Chen Leshui, one of the mini-strategists, said she threatened to do this once, and cried as she prepared to leave the house as she was afraid of the dark.

Seeing the child in tears, Chen's mother forgave her.

Chen believes the best tactic is Move No. 4 - holding on to Mom while crying - as this is sure to soften her heart.

Chen started to write the strategies with her friend Deng Xinyi in 2010 after faring poorly in an exam and was scolded by her mother.

The two girls went to Chen's room and started to create the guide. "I hid in the bathroom to write after I finished my homework to avoid being interrupted," Chen said.
