Chen says she planned to write 100 strategies, but is struggling to reach that figure as her mother now seldom scolds her as she's grown older.
In fact, Chen's mother said some of the scenarios were dreamt up by her imaginative daughter.
And Chen said her mother is actually very kind, giving her space to enjoy herself.
Chen and Deng's guide has been praised for being humorous and thought-provoking.
"My child already uses three tactics in the book," said novelist Lian Can.
"If he learns all the tricks, I will be totally out-maneuvered," said Lian.
Other parents questioned whether they had become pushy parents and others called for better understanding.
"Mothers should communicate with their children," said a netizen with the online name "lovely moon 33."
