Ten people suspected of being involved in a phone fraud case were transferred to Thai police on Wednesday, according to China's Ministry of Public Security.

The 10 suspects were escorted to Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong province, by Chinese police, who had worked jointly with their Thai counterparts on the case.

Two other Chinese suspects involved in the case were also apprehended by police and more than 200 related cases were uncovered, including phone fraud against members of Thai royalty involving a total of 150 million Thai baht (4.8 million U.S. dollars), the ministry said.

According to the ministry, another overseas criminal gang illegally trafficking guns and ammunition to China was busted, as its leader was captured in Bangkok and transferred to China on May 9 through the joint efforts of Chinese and Thai police.

An official with the ministry said that breaking up the two criminal gangs shows the effectiveness of the joint work by China, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand, and China will further international cooperation to crack down on transnational crimes.

A drug lord suspected of masterminding the murders of 13 Chinese sailors last year was arrested on April 25 and sent to China via a chartered plane on May 10.
