Editor's pick: The outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in the spring of 2003 terrified the entire nation of China. SARS patients were once struck by pain, torture and despair. Ten years after the epidemic, there are still some 300 SARS patients who managed to survive in Beijing. Society seems to have forgotten their existence, leaving them struggling to carry on.

Fang Bo, 61, is a former cook. SARS struck nine people in his family, resulting in the death of his wife and her sister. Fang then became overly sensitive and bitter. He once smashed a half-empty bottle over his head. Both of his daughters are now divorced; the younger one later married a man in a northeastern province and never returned home. Fang still gets overwhelmed by emotion while talking to others. He now suffers from leg bone necrosis.[Photo/Sina.com]
