Liu Xiufen, 49, is a former warehouse keeper. Nine people under her roof got SARS, resulting in four deaths, including her husband, who was contaminated while taking care of other SARS patients. Liu, now suffering from post-SARS depression, has been living with her daughter till now; she opts to spend most of her time at home. Like Liu, most people in this community either actively or passively cut their ties with the society.
