Water clock fountain

A drawing of the Haiyantang [File photo]

The water clock fountain was located in the Haiyantang, a European-style mansion in the Old Summer Palace.

Every two hours, one of the statues would spout water in turn. At noon, all of them would spout water in concert. The scene was said to be magnificent.
