Nursing homes: 90,000 beds

Beijing's nursing homes have 90,000 beds, and the municipal government plans to increase the number to 120,000 by the end of 2015. More government-run nursing homes for middle and low-income earners are being built in the city, and government authorities will subsidize the construction and expansion of privately-run nursing homes. Each new bed in a private nursing home is entitled to construction subsidies of 8,000 yuan (US$1,270) to 16,000 yuan (US$2,540).
