Shandong plans to highlight six cultural tourist attractions and three local specialties in order to attract more tourists, especially from foreign countries, according to Shandong Provincial Tourism Administration on Dec. 12.

"We have to improve services in 2012. So Shandong will build a lot of excellent tourism programs, providing excellent play, eat and shopping products to tourists," Yu Chong, director of the Shandong Provincial Tourism Administration said.

The six spots include the Confucian Temple, Confucian Cemetery and Confucian Family Mansion, the Taishan Mountain, the Yellow River, the Wall of Qi State, and the Lu (Shandong) Canal.

In addition, Shandong Province will build a shopping street in each city to promote the province’s specialty goods, such as the E jiao, seaweed and the Jiaodong sea cucumber. Three local dishes will also be on the top of the menu.
