Condolences from Egypt & Brazil

The disaster has pulled on the heartstrings of Chinese people across the world. Chinese in Egypt have attended the Chinese Embassy to Egypt to express their condolences and make donations for quake survivors.

By 6 p.m. on Tuesday, more than 74,000 US dollars had been collected. Many people didn't leave their names with their donations, to show their obligation to share responsibility when their home country suffers disaster.

A private delegate of the Brazilian President went to the Chinese Embassy in Brazil to extend his condolences. He conveyed the president's sympathy and concern, and received an update on relief work in Sichuan.

Gilberto Cavalho, Private Delegate of Brazilian President said "I speak in the name of president Lula, his family members and government officials to express condolences to those Chinese in the quake-struck areas. I appreciate the quick response of the Chinese government. It showed that people's interests are being put first."
