Li Yundi, pianist, said, "The tune I played was called "contribute". I hope, through my music, I can contribute something to ease the suffering of people in the quake stricken areas. I hope the earnings from this concert will contribute to rebuilding schools for children affected by the earthquake."

Some medical doctors who helped in the disaster region and who have just returned to Beijing sat in the audience. They shared their experiences and feelings about their part in the rescue.

Jiang Suchun, doctor of Beijing 302 Hospital, said, "People there sent me a bamboo fan. It's one of their traditional local handicrafts. They said to me I'm too old and the weather was too hot for me. I gave them money. But they gave it back. So the fan is an expression of their gratitude. They are holding together tightly. People are thoughtful of each other. The conditions are tough but the people very strong. They have already begun to transplant seedlings and are busy rearranging their lives."

Funds raised at the concert will be donated to help to rebuild schools in Wenchuan County, to help replace teaching facilities and to help to contribute to the psychological healing of children there.
