The exhibition which opened Tuesday presents over 200 cheongsam of various styles and materials. Each has a story. Together comprise a history of cheongsam over a century. The most eye-catching items are three cheongsam worn by Soong Ching_Ling, former state leader. Cheongsam, simply means "long dress". It entered the English language from Cantonese. It's the costume of northern Manchu women. The fashion survived political change and with later improvements, became the traditional dress for Chinese women.

The exhibition runs until next Sunday.
