Adjust font size:

A visiting Chinese army troupe Saturday performed a modern dance drama at the East Pyongyang Grand Theater and was highly acclaimed by the local audience.

Kim Yong Nam, top legislator of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), and other senior DPRK officials watched the drama, "An Ode to Hongmei." Hongmei, or Chinese plum flower, symbolizes dauntless spirit and gracefulness in Chinese culture.

The drama, based on the real life story during China's civil revolutionary war, showed the heroic struggle of imprisoned revolutionaries, who remained true to their principle despite cruel torture by the enemies.

The drama was performed by the Art Troupe of the Political Department of the Air Force of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. Before the performance, Kim Yong Nam met and had friendly talks with leading members and principal performers of the troupe.

Chinese Ambassador to the DPRK Liu Xiaoming also watched the performance.
