The Aston Martin DB5, which features in five 007 films including "Casino Royale" in 2006, beat the Jaguar E-Type and Mini Cooper.
The most embarrassing car was the three-wheeled Reliant Robin, which is frequently the object of Mr Bean's anger in the smash-hit comedy films.
Meanwhile, 49 percent of respondents thought Porsche drivers were arrogant and wanting to make a statement while 44 percent thought they were having a mid-life crisis.
The poll of 2,300 people also found that on average British drivers spend more than 15 hours a week in their cars but since recent increases in petrol prices, as many as 53 percent have reduced the unnecessary journeys they make.
The most iconic cars were:
1. Aston Martin DB5
2. Jaguar E-Type
3. Mini Cooper
4. Aston Martin Vantage V8
5. Austin Mini
6. Rolls-Royce Phantom
7. Lotus Elise
8. Lotus Esprit
9. Bentley Blower
10. AC/Shelby Cobra
The top three most embarrassing cars were:
1. Reliant Robin
