8. Ip Man

Don't judge the film by its name and expect this to be a Chinese superhero film like Spider-Man . Ip Man, an alternative to "Yip Man" and also pronounced as "Ye Wen" in mandarin, is actually the name of the Kung Fu master who taught the one and only Bruce Lee. Directed by Wilson Yip, the film was made with the willing consent of Yip Man's sons, stars Donnie Yen as Yip Man, and features fight choreography by Sammo Hung.

However, unlike the art Mei Lanfang biopic, Ip Man not only has a decent storyline but also more exciting scenes, such as those where Yip Man restores the country's national pride by defeating Japanese invaders in hand-to-hand combat. The film is also a triumph for Kung Fu star Donnie Yen, who is at his peak and ready to be crowned as a new martial arts king should Jet Li and Jackie Chan decide to fade gracefully from the scene.
