China' s Involvement in APEC

 

On November 12, 1991, the People's Republic of China, Chinese Taipei, and Hong Kong, China, were accepted as members of the APEC at its ministerial meeting held in Seoul.

Since its participation in APEC in 1991, China has fully taken part in various APEC activities in the spirit of cooperation, played an active role in the cooperation of APEC in recent years and pushed the cooperation in this region.

China's implementation of reforms and opening-up has attracted Asia-Pacific countries especially the bordering countries to cooperate with China with great market potential. Up to now the country has attended the Economic Leaders' Meetings for seven times and APEC Ministerial Meetings 36 times and has contributed to the forming of cooperation policies and strategies of APEC. China's role in APEC has been highly acclaimed by its fellow members.
