Landslide Destroys 8-Story Building in Wulong County

A landslide occurred in Wulong County of southwest China's Chongqing Municipality destroyed an 8-story residential building at 8:30 pm Tuesday.

By Wednesday morning, rescue teams have dug out 11 dead bodies from the accident site.

The collapsed building was a home to 31 households. When the landslide occurred, the residents immediately started to escape from the building at hearing shouting from outside. But the landslide was very quick on a large area, some people failed to escape from the mishap.

Local Party organization and government soon mobilized rescue teams to the landslide site. Hundreds of armed policemen joined the rescue work.

He Guoqiang, secretary of Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and some officials from related departments of Chongqing rushed to the site for the rescue work.

The rescue work is still going on at the press time.
