A splendid world of miniature art is expected to be unveiled to the public with the opening of China's first mini-art museum in Hangzhou, capital city of east China's Zhejiang Province later this year.
Visitors will soon see exquisite works of tiny art including carved poems on pieces of human hair, paintings on sesame seeds, sculptures made on stones no larger than 1 cubic millimeter, and many other unbelievable mini-sculptures, mini-carvings, and mini-paintings from all over the world, said Feng Yaozhong, president of the museum and a renowned mini-sculpture artist.
"Hangzhou has a number of famous museums for traditional Chinese medicine, silk, tea and so on. Now with the establishment of the mini-art museum, we have founded a base for the study of mini-art," said Li Xiaohua, deputy director of the Hangzhou Municipal Cultural Bureau.
According to Feng, the museum, which has a total investment of 2.2 million yuan (US$265,000), has already collected a number of excellent works from 12 masters, who are going to show their work to the public in October.
"For 10 years, it has long been a dream for me to set up such a museum, which will not only bring the splendid mini-art world to the public, but will also carry out a series of research on the subject," he said.
The museum president said that the museum will also include on-site performances by famous mini-artists as well as mini-art courses and seminars.
