Jiangxi Delegates Endorsing Jiang's Report
The report delivered by Jiang Zemin at the 16th CPC National Congress is inspiring and of great significance to China’s further modernization drive in the new century, says Meng Jianzhu, secretary of the CPC Jiangxi Provincial Committee, in a group discussion.

The report shows the road the Party will take and the targets it will obtain in the future, and it reflects the practical situation in Jiangxi and China as a whole, said Meng. It represents demands of the times and aspirations of the people. This report draws a clear blueprint for China as well as Jiangxi. An old revolutionary base, from where the Long March led by Mao Zedong started, Jiangxi again will lead the country in fulfilling the tasks stated in the report. Meng said he and his team are determined to develop the temporarily backward province into a rising star in the central region of China.

Other delegates from this province share Meng’s view. Sun Gang, director of the Jiangxi Development and Planning Commission, said, “I found this report especially heartening since it mentions the strategic development concerning Jiangxi four times.” The report says the central region should give priority to industry and urbanization, and the agriculture-dominated economy should be changed. In addition, the mention about giving more support to the old revolutionary bases and major grain producers gives Jiangxi delegates great inspiration.

Lei Jiwen, head of the She Autonomous Township in the province, also voiced his views on Jiang’s report. He said it is the correct leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Jiang Zemin at the core that ushered in a happy life for the people of the She ethnic group. The Party has laid out specific and practical policies and provided generous support to Chinese ethnic minorities. As the head of the township, he will follow the guidance of the report together with his fellow villagers in building a well-off society and boosting socialist modernization in their hometown.

Wu Min, secretary of the Party committee of Jinggangshan city in southern Jiangxi, said Jiang’s report reflects the wishes of the Party members and the people; it will serve as a good guidance for local development. As the birthplace of China’s revolution, Jinggangshan will accelerate its overall development and live up to the expectation of the whole country.

Dr. Gao Guolan of Jiangxi Tumor Hospital said she fully support the Three Represents thought initiated by Jiang Zemin, which is stressed several times in the report. As a medical doctor, she will always bear this in mind in daily work and serve the patients whole-heartedly. (Three Represents thought: The Party should always represent the development trend of China’s advanced productive forces, the orientation of China’s advanced culture and the fundamental interests of the overwhelming majority of the Chinese people.)

A total of 39 delegates from Jiangxi are taking part in the 16th CPC Congress, which opened on November 8 in Beijing and will last seven days.
