Largest Container Ship Starts Maiden Voyage
China's largest container ship embarked on its maiden voyage from Pudong Port in east China's Shanghai municipality on October 10.

The mega boat is nearly 280 meters long and can take up to 5,668 standard containers. It is among the most advanced in the world. Only a few countries, such as Japan and Korea, can build such container ships.

The building of the ship is a breakthrough in China's ship building industry. With a full load of 68,000 tons of freight, the boat can travel at a speed of 26 knots. The ship was built by the East Shanghai China Ship Building Company.
