China Holds Cultural Week in St. Petersburg

China will stage various kinds of culture activities during the China Week in St. Petersburg, the renowned scenic city in southern Russia.

The cultural exchange week, which is the largest of its kind held here by the Chinese government in recent years, will feast local residents with excellent performances made by first-class Chinese artists, said Zhao Qizheng, minister of the Information Office of the State Council, China's cabinet.

During the China Week, scheduled for Aug. 20-28, a 300-member Chinese delegation will offer Chinese folk music show, acrobatic performance, model show, photo exhibition and other types of cultural activities, helping Russian people and foreign visitors to understand traditional Chinese art and culture as well as Chinese people's modern life.

Local Russian officials have expressed their belief that the China Week, which is jointly sponsored by the Chinese government and the Municipal Government of St. Petersburg, will contribute to all-round cooperation between China and Russia.
