Hu Jintao Stresses Hard Work for Country's Development
Hu Jintao, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), has called on all Chinese people to be united and work hard to turn the country's blueprint into reality.

Hu made the remarks during a recent inspection tour of Xibaipo, an old revolutionary base in north China's Hebei Province.

Together with members of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, the tour is aimed at reviewing the history of revolutionary struggle carried out by the Chinese people under the leadership of the CPC, Hu said.

"We have every reason to be proud of the achievements in the reform and modernization drive over the past 20 years, especially since the Fourth Plenary Meeting of the 13th CPC Central Committee," he said. "However, we should not be self-complacent and stagnant."

"What we have achieved is only a step, though a substantial one, on the long march. To attain the goal of building a more affluent society set by the 16th National Congress of the CPC, we still face many arduous tasks, difficulties and challenges. Consequently, we must always be modest and work hard," Hu said.

In the new historic condition, whether or not to keep on working hard and withstand the temptations of power, money and beauty is a test to every Communist, especially to the leading officials, he said.

Hu expressed the hope that all Party members should bear in mind the basic national situation and the Party's sacred mission, the Party's purpose of serving the people wholeheartedly, the Party's basic theory, line and program and the historic responsibility entrusted to the Party.
