Symposium Discusses Taiwan Issue, Sino-Japan Relation

A symposium on Taiwan issue and Sino-Japan relations has been held in the Japanese capital of Tokyo.

It was attended by a Chinese delegation from the State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office, the Japanese media circle as well as the Chinese media in Japan.

Speaking at the symposium, the Chinese scholars believe that to solve the Taiwan issue peacefully would be in the interests of people of both sides across the Straits and would benefit regional peace and security.

They also point out  "One China" principle is the fundamental base for the two sides having dialogue and negotiations and call on the Taiwan authority to accept this principle.

The scholars add that the Taiwan issue is an important factor affecting Sino-Japanese relations; therefore Japan's stance on the Taiwan issue would influence the political base of bilateral relations. They ask the Japanese government to solve the Taiwan issue properly.
